Chem-Marin's Stop Parasites

flaming angel

Has anyone tried Chem-Marin's Stop Parasites in their reef tank? I have read a couple of articles where they state that it is reef safe and corals and mushrooms can handle the medication. I am reluctant to add anything to my reef tank that could possibly be harmful but I have had no luck in catching a flame angel and really don't look forward to taking out all of the live rock to catch them.
I have a 75 gal reef tank with a flame angel (infected with mild case of ick), maroon clown (no sign of ick yet), and a large spotted mandarin (no sign of ick yet), many invertabrates, mushrooms, corals, etc.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,

The reef safe meds are not predictable, either in curing ich or on long term effects on the reef tank. Your best bet is to set up a QT and treat all the fish out of your display.

I have had a quarantine tank set up for a year. My fear is that my large spotted mandarin picks at the live rock for food. How will he survive in an empty tank. And my clown fish loves his anemones. I think he'll be extremely stressed without the anemone to hide in. I would love to be able to treat in the reef tank without disturbing everything.

I used the Chem-marin "Stop Parasites". I have a 75 FOWLR, and there is no way I could catch the ick infected fish without tearing down the entire system. I followed the directions completely and had NO LUCK AT ALL in treating ICK with the Chem-marin product. I believe I heard somewhere that all it is is Tabasco Sauce.
If I could catch the little bugger, hyposalinity would be the result. However, I think it would be very stressful trying to move all the rocks and all to catch him. So I too am in the same boat as you. I have heard that Kick-ick has a 50-50 chance at curing your ick. Soak your food in garlic and try the kick-ick as well, only if you can't do hyposalinity. If you have no luck with that, then you may be SOL. Once you see the fish stop eating, I think your in trouble, at least thats my theory. Good Luck.
