Chemical filtration

I am starting a new saltwater tank for the very first time. I have decided on a fowlr setup. I am going to use live rock with live sand for my biological filtration and a protien skimmer for mechanical filtration. What should I use to carry out my chemical filtration with this type of setup? The tank is 55g and I don't have the option for a sump at the moment.

chemi pure elite
I love Chemi-Pure and the "elite' just adds ferric hydroxide to remove phosphates. This is a neat idea, but the ferric H is exhausted in a few weeks (at most) and the Chemi-Pure can last 6 months. IMO, use regular Chemi-Pure and use a phosphate remover separately; when and if you need it. Cheaper, too.
I think Jmcclane is wondering where to put the chem filtration media. Maybe a HOB filter;like an Aqua-Clear or Bio-Wheel. If you don't have a sump, this is a good way to use any type of chem media and the sponge filter of the HOB will do a good job removing debris. It will get a lot of the gunk that the skimmer won't; with only 55 gal, you'll have to clean the sponge often.
