Chemiclean red slime remover question

I have fish and inverts (hermits, snails and a longspine black sea urchin). No coral or plants. I have a red slime algae outbreak. Is this product safe? It says to remove the carbon from my filter and turn off the protein skimmer then change 20% water after 48 hours. Any other advice?

Yes, no ill effects at all. I removed all the carbon and just used some of blue filter media pads and cut them for my HOB filter and I took out the carbon out of the sump/wet-dry. I also did a 20% water change after 48 hours as per directions on the box. Carefully clean all your cleaning equipment. I noticed it on my other 2 tanks as well and it IS a bacteria and I thought maybe I spread it.

there are ill effects, you just didn't see them. anytime you add an antibiotic to the tank to kill bacteria, that's what dies. i've seen ill effects from the use of this medication. nothing like a new cycle or drastic like that, but i noticed funny happenings.
to answer your question though, it won't harm fish or inverts.

I tried cleaning out the red slime manually and even had the lights out with the tank covered for 3 days and it always came back.
I just used this product a couple of weeks ago....worked like a charm. Try not to overdose as a little goes a long way.
After your water change, your protein skimmer may overflow with foam, but that stops in a day or two, especially if you're running carbon.
Some may argue that you're killing beneficial bacteria along with the red slime. Perhaps, but I think the removal of the slime is much more important. The good bacteria will regenerate.
The most important thing is figuring out how the slime got in there in the first place. If the cause is not corrected (i.e., excess nutrients, poor flow), the red slime will come back.

the product works, just don't overdose, do a 20% or more water change, and address the phosphates (and maybe flow issues) that are causing it.
