I have a raised sump. I pump tank water up to point where water enters a tray system. In the trays are filter, then effisubstarte, then carbon. Then the water goes through LR then gravity back to tank. My question is about the drip trays. I was thinking of using carbon filters first as both carbon and to filter large debris, then effisbstarte, then ??????. My tank has had a lot of algea latly - especially hair. Any suggestions for the third tray?

if you use the carbon first, before some kind of prefilter, the carbon will become exausted very quickly. do you rinse all that media in saltwater every once in a while? wet dry systems can build up nitrates if they aren't taken care of.

Yes I rinse, but not enough. That may be a great thing to add to my schedule. Thanks.
