Choosing a Clean up crew

So I am cycling my 46 bowfront. In the past I have had only snails in my tanks for a clean up crew. In my old 180 aggressive the "crew" usually became lunch.
I plan on not getting into to many corals, since my house is for sale. If I decide to do zooz, mushrooms and a few polyps... maybe... What would be a safe clean up crew?
I never had hermit crabs, are they good???
I have been looking at the reef packages on swf.com, and they all have cleaner clams, and hermits crabs. I don't know anything about them. Are they more beneficial then a ton of snails??

i'd stick with just hermits and nass snails. the cleaner clams r useless imo. when choosing hermits, dont get the blue legged one, since they r very aggressive.
