Christmas Wrasse

So I just bought a Christmas Wrasse, I acclimated him and as soon as I put him in the tank he buried himself in the sand and has been buried for about 18 hours now. I have read many places that this is completely normal for this fish but if he hasnt come out of the sand at what point do i go digging for him to make sure he isnt dead? This is also a fish that eats 3-4 times a day so I cant see how hes going to make it if he doesnt eat for 2 days straight. Thanks in advance for the help

I had a dragon wrasse that did the same thing when I bought it. Takes a few days for the fish to feel comfortable. Your wrasse might be in and out of the sand for a couple weeks.
You could sift through the sand with your fingers. The wrasse will be near the surface. Maybe under 1/2-1 inch of sand. Just be very careful so you don't damage the fish with your hands.

Great, soo he finally came out of the substrate after two days and I noticed he has "popeye", I have quarantined him and started him on a cycle of Furan-2. Anybody know the success rates of treating pop eye?

so my wrasses eye is no longer swollen or popped out but it does still have the cloudy film over it, but i do still see the color in his eye so is that good sign? will his sight be affected after this?
