They got "mad" cause you didn't know who he was?? Well, I'm sitting in the bleachers with you then cause I have no idea.
Edit... Ok, I googled. Now I know. But still, I don't think they shoulda got mad at you. Somethings are just more interesting to some people I guess.
Now you get mad at them for not knowing who Eric Borneman or Anthony Calfo is, lol

Actually I was the one who was amazed they didn't know. It is like not knowing who Ben Franklin is or something.

Didn't he write the black stallion? That was one of my favorite books when I was little.
I was griped at for being suprised they didn't know who Yeager was. And although I've never spoken with Eric Borneman or Anthony Calfo, I have with Kelly ie puffer queen. You SWF mods that is a really good idea that the competitor has done bring a bunch of experts to mod those forums. I don't understand why it doesn't generate more hits.

I was a book worm when I was a little kid. From Black Beauty, Tom Clancy, Madeleine L'Engle, every single biography I could get my hands on, Franklin Dixon and the hardy boys (I think that is a pen name), carson levine(Don't say anything) Victor Hugo, Kipling well alot of other people too.

Not only was he the pioneer in most jet engine applications, but he is a very cool dude (got to meet him one time).
And, another good thing that came about from the Yeager family...his wife Glennis helped invent the condom.

Another person on here who says he met him. She worked on developing a condom? That is wierd information. I believe you not the other guy.

Unless she was around during the time of the ancient egyptians I highly doubt it. Of course she may have improved on them ... I dunno.
And how the hell did we go from Chuck Yeager to condoms?

Want me to bring this home for fish folk? Yeager's one of the people who made it possible for us to get livestock sent overnight across the country.
Some may call that a stretch, but the research done in the ten years after WWII led to the 'jet age'. Do not blame him; however, for the state of the airline industry. That was all the business majors.
Anyone who wants a good read, Gen. Yeager's autobiography is a great account of his WWII experience, as well as his time in the Cali desert.
And Bigarn's right. Chuck's wife didn't invent the condom. The story is that when they were in Pakistan, Glennis (Mrs. Yeager) convinced the US to start sending colored condoms, instead of white, which helped jumpstart the usage of condoms in Pakistan as birth control. I'm paraphrasing here, but its all in "Yeager."
Oh, and its a Jaeger bomb. The umlauts over the 'a' are a German contraction of 'ae'. You owe one penalty shot for the misspelling.

From the movie "The Right Stuff"
"...they were called test pilots....and no one knew their names."
Yeager is also an ace, champion of general aviation. I had lunch with him a few years back at the Thunder over Michigan Airshow.

Ah ha...I stand corrected.
I met him in 1999, at a commencement ceremony at Whiteman Air Force base, in MO.
