I just purchased this clam and it was sold as a Crocea. They said to place it in the sand. I am not at expert at identifying clams so can anyone confirm the type of clam and where it needs to be placed in the tank.
Lighting is (3) 250W, 14k phoenix bulbs on a 125g tank.

That is a Dersa clam. No doubt there, they like to be placed in the sand with medium to low currents. They tolerate the lower light levels but still require VHO and MH. The Dersa clam is the easiest of clams to keep. If your LFS sold you a Corcea at a much higher price you need to let them know. Any person with experience in SW knows that is a Dersa, that being said, they still are a nice clam, with good coloring, so enjoy, just research clams next time.

Thanks for the info. I can tell the difference in the others clams but I just wasn't sure how to tell the difference between the dersa and crocea. This one is already 4.5" to 5" and I paid $75 which I thought was a good deal.

Just for the purpose of google and research, the correct spelling is derasa.
I see a lot of "dersa", but I'm still not sure why..
Anyway, just FYI.
