Why? Being a filter feeder, wouldn't it suck in water to filter from any angle? or do they catch stuff better if it falls on them...Is face up the natual postion for these guys? I see most people have them set face up, but I was wondering if that was for looks...Mine was placed face up and he "put on the jets" this way, and that, until he was cocked on his side and seems happy there. I just want him to get the best benefits of position..although he seems to have made up his own mind..

clams use light as their first source of food, second is filter feeding. for clams to do well they need very strong lighting
