Clam Success?

Hi what is considered a good length of time a clam survives for a Hobbiest? Provided Good light , food, care?

I have heard of some in captivity for 20+ years. The Monterey Bay Aquarium I think has one since the 1980's. As for personal aquariums...not sure.
