Clam with Purple Lobster

Looking for some thoughts on keeping a purple lobster & clam in the same tank.
I would be especially concerned if I had a clam in the substrate with the lobster in the tank as he may be able to get under the clam.
Any comments?

Lobsters are amazingly aggressive. As long as the clam is up on the rocks (depending on your lighting), there shouldn't be a problem. I had a purple lobster but he managed to kill and eat about $200 in fish (one of them being a juvi volitan lion). I ended up banishing him to my 3 gallon pico so I wouldn't lose any more money before I gave him to someone else.

It's also important to keep in mind that when the lights are on, you will rarely (if ever) see it.

Hmmm... I had a purple firefish disappear overnight, also a couple shrimp. Not a trace of them left. I blamed my Daums lobster but LFS said no.

Ive had him for almost 3 months now and I havent lost anything. I have plenty of pep shrimps, some cleaners etc. It seems that my tang keeps the lobster in his cave.
My thought was also if I keep the clam up higher he wont go after it.
