Clams on my coral

yesterday I bought some zoas and I notice that there are a bunch of clams all over the rock...I assume these are ok? I think they are just your standard clam so I guess I'm just making sure there not some sort of nuisance or any other type of problem?

When I moved my tank I found a ton of them in the rocks. One was over an inch across . I was told they are muscles, and good for the tank.

Yep I was told they are muscles...I guess I don't know the difference between them? But yes I got them at the swap...ill post pics when I get them home and they open up...I think it was a pretty great deal though...maybe a 6" rock all the way full of at least 4 different types of colonies on it...them she threw in 2 other zoa frag pegs...also grabbed a fire shrimp...they also had a 5 gallon tank with 3 jelly fish all setup and ready to go for $400...that was tempting but I really don't wanna impulse buy something for $400 lol

"Mussel is the common name used for members of several families of clamsor bivalve molluscs, from saltwater and freshwaterhabitats. These groups have in common a shell whose outline is elongated and asymmetrical compared with other edible clams, which are often more or less rounded or oval."

yeah these said between 1-2 years..pretty much convinced me that I didn't want them...that must be a captivity thing? I imagine the ones in the wild can't only live 1- 2 years?

Oh and now I have to buy better lights for my tank cuz my kessil 150's don't do the zoas justice in any way of course...I see the 160's have adjustments for the intensity and what not...im not sure why I didn't just go with those in the first place

oh and I got the zoas for $40...looked at similar things on live aquaria and they are anywhere from $100-$200 so pretty good deal I think

I have 2 160s and 2 360s. Nice thing about Kessil is you can easily add on. The adjustability is great, so is their controller.

Yeah I was thinking of grabbing a 160...what would I expect to pay if I were to go with the 360? Are they around $400 ish?

yeah they are around 400. With the 150 and a 160 you will have a lot more light. If you hang them close together the different colors should merge, at least to your eye. Can always add more later. I started with the 2 160s on a 6 foot tank then added first one 360, so I had one 360 on one side and 2 160s on the other. I later added the second 360 and configured them with one of each on each side. I have that same configuration now on the 5' tank. I will add another 360 maybe this summer then maybe a fourth.

yeah these 150's like I said they just don't put off enough blue light to let the corals stand out...all the zoas are opened up its just that this light will not make them glow real well at all...so eventually here ill try a 160 since it has an adjuster on it

so will these 150's be ok for now? as in will the zoas keep alive temporarily until I can get a better light...I think the kessils are doing fine seeing that the zoas are all opened up its just that like I said they don't make them glow at all
