im no trying to second guess you but 2 of my LFS said that i would have enough light. SO im jsut trying to see why people are saying different things. BY the way hammers are beautiful
and one of them didnt ever carry clams either they jsut kept them in their tanks.

ummm ill check on what kind they are but i was going to start them in my 10 then take them up to the 75 as they get bigger right now they are less then 2inchs. Does it matter what kinda they are. They are blue.

well as for maxima clams or croceas i would have to say u would need metal halide lighting.... some people will say u can keep them under PC but if you want a very healthy and vibrant looking clam then u should have MH lighting...
its not about the WPG its more about the PAR value if u keep a clam under 10WPG of PC i bet i could keep a clam in better shape with just 4 WPG of MH lighting.... metal halides penetrate the water much deeper and with more intensity.... WPG is an ok system to use when talkin about softies and LPS once u get into clams and sps its really meaningless
i have 500W of 20K MH over my 100G with another 180W 10K PC and i keep everything im upgrading to a 180G tank and im going to keep the same lighting and everything should be just as happy imo
if you really wanting a clam try a T Derasa or a T Squamosa those can be kept under PC more easily since they dont have the bright blue/purple mantles
try getting a clam at least 3" across anything smaller must be target fed daily

could i keep it in my 10g or should i drop that idea. Also do you know anything about flame electric scolops (sp)? Like what they can be kept with, light conditions, feeding, etc?

10g is realy small for a clam they use a lot of calcium and would deplete it and grow to big for your tank too fast... if u kept a clam u would have to dose daily with a 2 part additive to keep you calcium and alkalinity at optimum levels...
as for flame scallops these only live about 6-10 months in a home aquarium they need lots of floating food such as filter feeding foods and DT's.... its hard to provide them with enough nutrition for a long time before they slowly starve to death...
they however dont need light to survive thats why they need lots of food
if u wanna try one go ahead but just be aware they usually dont last long... mine only lasteed about 8 months... u would have to feed daily but becareful in such a small tank not to overfeed and pollute your water

10 WPG in a 10 gallon tank is only 100 watt's of PC bulbs. Don't matter what type of clam, no, don't do it.
