Clams

Hey everyone! I am starting an aquarium and someone at SWF recommended that if I wanted a clam to get a maxima 1st grade anybody know some good tips? And I was wondering the life span. Thanks!

If you are just starting the tank I would wait a while on a clam. They need good strong light and good water quality. Maximas or Dersa are "easier" clams but again, I would wait and make sure you have good lighting.

what type of lighting on what size tank? ...challenge is one thing, torture to an animal is another..my .02

I have a 24 gallon nano cube deluxe SWF recommended a maxima clam since I asked for the closest thing do a deresa that could fit into a 24 gallon cube.

Long term, a maxima can't stay in a 24G tank. These are part of the GIANT clam family and over time specimens can grow over 12".
