Anyone recommend a clean up crew for a 300 gallon tank?
In my 30g, I used snails:
20 Cerith
25 Nassarius
20 nerite
I could not add a serpent in the 30g because of my seahorses but if I didn't have the horses...
1 serpent star or brittle star (NOT GREEN)
So maybe do the math...but I wouldn't get more than 4 of the stars. No hermits, they are mean and will kill the snails and eat them. I wouldn't get any crabs.

is it reef or FOWLR? That could affect on what you put as a CC. I would think you would (In General) add a lot of snails and hermit crabs. You should do your research to be safe on everything.

In my 475 I've roughly:
30 Cerith snails
30 Nassarius snails
20 nerite snails
50 Astraea
12 spiney star astraea snails
12 turban snails + 6 LARGE turban snails {golfball size)
100's of Collonista sp.
6 variuos brittle stars - Ophiocoma sp. - Ophiomastix sp. - Ophiolepsis sp.

Multiple cleaner shrimps, skunk cleaner & peppermint (Lysmata sp)
Only couple hermits, less than 20.

couple? LOL i guess ur on a bigger scale....ya i have more snails than hermits deff! If u get hermits dont forget the extra shells and try to get ones bigger than the current ones they are in. They do like to switch shells as they grow!
As for the brittles...imo i prefer the seaserpents. I have a banded one and that guy is tuff! I was a tad green to the hobby when i got him and didnt properly acclimate him. Well not long enough, anyways story short he had an opening in the side of him, hes had tips taken off by mean larger hermits and hes still hangin in thier!
I love shrimps too....maybe a coral bandit shrimp in that size tank!!! multiple ones!

Everything I listed is, but many species of star are not - so one must do research prior. I know the green brittle stars are not, and most sea stars with bumps on their legs aren't either. Most of the prettiest spieces (Fromia sp.) are also NOT reef safe. Most brittle stars are though.
