Clean Up Crew

I presently have
a clean up crew of the following in my 55 gal reef system:
8 Blue leg hermits
5 scarlet Hermits
3 turbo snails
3 Nassirius snails
3 Emarald crabs
and my sand is still slightly brown in areas of high lighting
I had a sifting starfish but he did not live very long, which did a great job keeping the sand clean.
Does any body have any suggestions on what I might add to help keep my sand cleaner ?

maybe more flow. Or have you tested your phosphates. and are your alk and cal level. Once I got all that in check I don't have anymore prblems of unwanted algea.
