What would be a good overall clean up crew mix for a 55 gallon reef? Would this work?
1 Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp
1 Brittle Starfish
5 Turbo Snails
5 Nassarius Snails
5 Astraea Snails
Is it too much, too less?
Thank you.

In my 90 gallon mixed reef I have:
1 cleaner shrimp
1 fire shrimp
1 coral banded shrimp
1 peppermint (had 4 but they're old)
100 astrea snails
100 hermit crabs
5 turbo snails
4-6 nassarius snails
umm... that what I can think of for now so I would say your on the light side. With snails -- particularly smaller ones like astrea you can pretty much go a snail per gallon and be safe.

in a 55gal i would have 2 cleaner shrimp. around 5 peppermint shrimp. 2 small-medium bristle starfish, 20 hermit crabs, and a few sally light foot crabs if u have algae. i dont like snails very much cause they poop a lot.
but if u have no coral i would get a chocolate ship starfish, they are AMAZING at cleaning the tank. i had one with a cleaner shrimp and thats all u need for up to 50gals. but thats if u dont have coral. and when it comes to the top of the tank they like it when u put a nice chunk of food in its leg.

I've kept 4 peppermint, 1 coral banded, 1 skunk cleaner, 1 red fire shrimp all together in my 90..... I've heard the coral banded can get territorial towards others but I've had mine about 4 years with no problems. I've lost a few peppermint shrimp due to age.
I know nothing of pistol shrimp either. IMO I wouldn't add the coral banded to that line up to be safe.

Just be aware of it... the smaller space the more aggression may come out. My Coral banded shrimp hangs out in a cave all day and then just wanders around at night. If a fish swims close he just raises his claws up but never bothers or chases anyone.
Yeah a definate favorite here too.. my fire shrimp always hides.
