One advice in this hobby is to never count up how much money you are going to spend or already have spent. ha Just get some scarlet hermits and some astrea snails one emerald crab. That should be fine...

In my 12 gallon I have the following:
2 cerith snails
2 naussauras snails (not sure on spelling)
1 margarita snail
1 fighting conch
1 electric blue hermit (Mainly just too look at)
1 emeral crab
Right now I still have algae on the glass and on the rock. I might get a couple more cerith snails or a tuxedo urchin if the problem continues. My favorite cleaners would probably be the naussauras snails because they eat any left over food that is on the sand. The Cerith snails stay on the rock and glass and the margarita snail always stays on the glass. Fighting conchs are also very nice because they eat a lot of diatoms and really clean the sand bed. An easy way to do it is start small and build up from there. Good luck.

I would not get a conch snail to put in a 12 gallon they would eventually starve to death. I would go with 3 scarlet hermits or 3 blue legged. The blue legg's are more aggresive. I would also go with 3 astrea's and maybe 1 turbo. I would also add a very small emerald crab, but he would be optional. If you are not having a problem with hair and bubble algae I would not get him. Good Luck...
