I have a 30 gallon tank with a small Niger trigger, a small porc puffer, and a small grouper. I need a cleanup crew for the brown stuff on bottom. I have a good filter and a good protein skimmer but there is a brown substance on the sand that i think could be waste. Will crabs do the trick? What Kind should I get?

Snails work as well and won't eat each other.
Many people advocate a mixture of snails and small hermit crabs. Others swear hermit crabs are horrible and will just eat each other and the snails, shrimp, small fish... The blue legs may be more peaceful than the red legs, but no guarrentees.
About 1 janitor per gallon is a good start.

Oh MY GOD your me, That mix is the same as I started with. Mines was a v-tails grouper, I had an arrow crab, but one morning he was just gone took about a month before he disapeared. Not sure who it was, i do have both snails and hermits, one hermit that's has a zebra shell was caught eating a snail, Not sure if it was already dead or not. That's about it. Tell me do you have hills and valleys thanks to your
