cleaner fish

In my 90 gallon FOWLR, I have a 4" Harlequin Tusk,a 5" Green Bird Wrasse,a 4" Emperor Angel,a 3-4" Black Voliton Lion, and a 4" Hippo tang. I want to add a cleaner fish, But I am affraid it would get eaten. I was interested in either a cleaner gobby or a cleaner wrasse. I added a algea blenny and either the bird wrasse or the tusk bit it in half. Will they eat a cleaner gobby or cleaner wrasse? What do you guys think?

I really don't think they would eat him but, I would strongly advise you not to get one. First of all, they have a very bad mortality rate from what I understand. Second, I assume the reason you want a cleaner in the first place is because your fish are sick. A cleaner won't take care of your problm. You need to consider getting rid of some of your fish. Its very difficult to mix aggressive fish like harlequins and wrasses with fish like tangs and angels cause they need such good water conditions. So you should probably pick one or the other.

My fish are a fine I just thought the way the cleaner wrasses clean them was interesting. The two most aggressive fish in my tank are the Angel and the Tang, and the water quality is fine for them because I do water changes and I have good filtration. I did not ask you what you thought about my fish being compatible or not.

Well, first your tank is full, but not now. You'll have to take out the lion, and the angel, eventually. But in the mean time, Clean Wrasse actually could surive. Cleaner Wrasse do a very important task to the fish by eating nuisence (sp) parasites, and most aggressive fish won't kill it, but it might chase it a bit. They generally are pretty cheap, and if you can see first hand that a cleaner wrasse is eating something not off of fish, get it. And also, cleaner wrasse from the Malidives are better eaters than common Pacific ones.

Well Mr. Snake, whether or not you asked for my opinion on the compatibility in your tank doesn't make a difference to me. If you post on this board asking for peoples opinions, thats what you'll get. And I don't care how good your filtration is and how many water changes you do, it won't work out. Bank on that.

your tank is overloaded already don't add anything else...
the lion will out grow that tank.
the angel will out grow that tank (if it doesn't die first from the water conditions created by your lion).
whats in your 180 right now??

nothing, after I moved I didn't set it up again,I'll probably set it up again later this year. i don't know why you people say the water conditions will be bad because of the lion. The lion is small, and I don't overfeed it,My Ammonia is 0ppm,Nitrite 0ppm,Nitrate 10ppm,PH 8.3.All of the fish are healthy, everyone gets along,I change about 10gallons of water every two weeks.I have 5 serpant stars that clean all the junk in the tank, and a bunch of other stars. If all of these inverts are doing fine why wouldn't the Angel,Angels can stand Nitrate levels to 25ppm. and not be effected, and my levels are no where near that. With the 125#'s of live rock, the 100#'s of live sand,Berlin Turbo Skimmer,UV sterilizer,Wet/Dry,Powerheads,and a aquaclear powerfilter,my water parameters are always good.Whats in your 75gallon,what kind of filtration do you have on it?What fish are in it?You don't know what your talking about.Bank on that.

i had a cleaner and he was awesome but he got eaten by my triggers and puffer , but if you like this fish don,t put it with really aggressive fish , if you do get a big one

Look, it doesn't really matter what I have in my 75, but if you must know, I have a niger, snowflake, and a damsel. As for filtration I have a fluval 404, a Prizm skimmer, and some powersweep "wavemakers". I'm not trying to rip on you man, just trying to help...i'm sure I don't come off too well but I mean well. Like I said before, if you post on this board, expect people's opinions. My opinion is that a tank that small with that many large fish is headed for trouble. The fact that you've made it this far without any troubles is quite impressive really. You really sound like you know your stuff. So do the right thing and consider taking a fish or two out.
