cleaner hiding

hi I just bought my first shrimp 2 days ago, i have heard that they have great personalities, bit so far she stays upside down under a rock. I fed the tank today an she came out and was very aggressive in eating, which I read is good and normal. Is this common for a shrimp to hide at first? She also is carrying eggs.

When I just got mine it would hide all day. But it started to come out alot and was crazy at feeding time. And when I moved her to my bigger tank she hid for a few days but now is wanting to clean every fish in my tank (which my fish hate for some reason)

Hiding at first, and hanging upside down in the cave is very normal. How do you know she is carrying eggs?

You can tell because there will be little neon green eggs in the finlets which are the flapping things on the underside of the tail section.

Sounds like you got a deal w/pregnant livestock, though the babies will likely get eaten by somebody. I just put my hand in the tank and my shrimp will comeright over and start cleaning it. The fish don't give it any business so it has to do something!

When you say cleaner shrimp, which kind did you get? For example Skunk cleaner shrimp is very social and is constantly going around and checking things out. Fire shrimp on the other hand is more *shy* and mine comes our most when it's feeding time. Both of my Skunks are carrying eggs too, seems like they do it all the time

its a skunk, yea you can see the eggs under those fluttery legs. I dont expect much from the eggs other than fresh food for the fish, it sounds like nobody has had luck raising them
