Cleaner Killer???

ok this morning i was doing the daily inspection of the tank and i knowticed what i though was a molt of my cleaner shrimp. so i started looking for the little guy and couldnt find him. i hope i am not overreacting but could he be dead? i have a few other shrimp in the tank so i know what a molt looks like, but this looked a little more thick than previous molts.the day before i saw him and he was fine. but later that day i saw my cc star smashed behind the rock were i found the remains this morning. and all around the area is covered with a mucus that star produced after he devours something. so is it at all possible that he ate him?i havent been able to retrieve the remains because they are behind all of my rock and behind my huge pagoda cup
i can only see the worms finishing whats left of the remains. this shrimp was huge and cost me $35
i can only hope that he wil reappear.

What type of star is it, some of them can be predators and eat anything they can catch. Also. maybe he didn't catch the shrimp, so much as the shrimp died and then the other guys are just cleaning and don't their job. how long have you had the shrimp?

ok it is a chocolate chip star. i have had this shrimp for about two weeks. it may have died but i saw it hours befor the star was on the area?i still really hope it is just a molt

If the star did eat the shrimp...the shrimp was dead before the star got to it, they are simply too slow. Kind of like the steam roller scene from austin powers. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

So did he reappear? I know that it is often hard to tell when a cleaner shrimp is ill, or maybe he just got hurt or was getting bullied and got stressed. Either was, it is highly unlikely that the CCstar caught him. Those shrimp are really really quick.
