Are you sure it was your cleaner shrimp? Shrimp need to molt occasionally depending on how much food it gets. Once a month is not uncommon. They are very vulnerable while they molt, becoming virtually incapacitated. This molting can take just a few minutes to several hours, and after that the new shell is very soft so hiding is still in order. Aquarist are often alarmed at the sight of their "dead" shrimp when in fact it is usually just the left over empty shell from the molt.
Good luck ... maybe your shrimp is just hiding. :)

he was in my tank for about 2 and a half days. and acclimated him for about 30 to 40 minutes so i doubt it was that. and he had a meaty inside so i know it wasnt the shell. i thought he might be molting so i left him in my tank for about 50 mins to see if he would move he didnt even twitch for about the 20 mins i was watching him. so i also doubt he was molting. it is just so wierd though because he was fine that night. also last night i had a blue legged hermit ripped in half(i only found half of him this morning). but i dont think this really has any thing to do with it. any more ideas?
