Cleaner Shrimp

Hey guys, question? I just bought a Cleaner shrimp, I was told they like meaty foods. Im not sure if hes eating, I fed tuna last night but the fish got to it before him, How can i hand feed him? Will he eat if I do this?

Give him a few days and before you know it he/she will be attacking you for food. They quickly lose their shyness.

he might eat when i first got mine i didnt see him eat for a couple of days but after that i would hand feed him a freeze dried krill, and now i do it about everyother day

So they arent shy usually? Cause right now hes really shy. I got him 2 days ago. How long before I can expect him to open up..How can u tell what its gender is?

I believe they are hemaphrodites, I always get confused though as to which shrimp are hemaphrodites and which are not.

Skunk cleaners are far from shy. Mine likes to be out in the open where it can get a good view of me. It definately knows me as a food source and when theres food in the tank, it has no problems grabbing for much more than it can possibly fit in its mouth. A lot of times I have to make sure its got a face full of food before feeding the corals or it will pick the food out of their mouths! Definately an agressive eater.
