i recently bought 2 cleaners i already had a cb shrimp. anyways 1 of the 2 died that night. cb killed him i think. 2 days later i got another(heard they work better in pairs) he killed that one within 24 hours to. i guess he just like the on cleaner . i feel your pain though cleaners really cost alot and to see them go within a day just sucks!

cbs are very aggressive shrimp. they will kill any other shrimp put in the tank. also they dont even get along with each other unless they are a mated pair. one thing with a cbs is plan on that being your only shrimp. some of them will even go after small fish if they get the chance

Just for some info, I have had a CBS living with a camel back and 3 peppermint shrimp as an addition to my cleaning crew for about 2 weeks, no problems at all! All in a 55gal.

CBS are aggessive and will attack other shrimp. The larger the aquarium the less likly you will have a problem. And some are more aggresive than others. In most small aquariums thay sould be kept alone. In a 30g he may decide the entire aquarium is his territory and will defend it against all other shrimp. UVM your tank is also almost twice as larg as his.

when you pay that much for an ornamental/usefull shrimp, do you really want to chance it being killed off; some people do Ok w/ them & otehrs live the horror story

I agree that the size of the tank is a factor. I have 125 gallon with a CBS, 1 cleaner, 3 camelback and 3 peppermint shrimp. They are all still kicking. I did see my arrow crab get into a fight with my cleaner shrimp over a piece of scallop, but the cleaner got away :)

I thought I was golden in my 55 - the cleaner, peppermint and CBS had all been living in harmony, each in their own comfy nook in the LR since Dec.. I was horrified last week to come home and find my CBS munching away on my beautiful fire shrimp Boy does my hippo miss him :(

Lovely. I have one of these monsters in my tank.
Although, I don't have any other shrimp though.
The CBS is quite defensive of his "cave" and when anything goes in there they quickly get out. Mine is pretty big now. Got it as a little fellow. As of to date it's not messed with anything. Knock on wood. :D

Well just like anything else in our aquariums some can be angels and some can be the most dreadful viscious creatures which ever swam. CBS are known for their agressive nature, but as it appears some have luck keeping them with other shrimp. I think it's only time before they get hungry and decide that your $18 cleaner shrimp is more appealing them a dead scallop. They do have those big claws for something!!
