Cleaning a Duvet

try having an 10 year old get sick on it!!
Once we got rid of the .....welll.....excess, i tossed it in our machine and hoped for the best. cause I had nothing to lose at 2 am. I have those "dryer balls" you can also you a tennis ball to place in the dryer to help with the fluffing. Yes, it did have a smell, but not too bad, really. It only lasted about a day. I did not put the cover back on for a few days to help in the airing out.

I know they should be cleaned in a commercial style tumble washer and not a top load... with some TIDE and maybe throw in some OXYCLEAN and I think you will be alright..

Our puppy got sick on our feather duvet so it needs cleaned. I have heard from people that washing it traditionally it will have an odor from the eathers being wet. Does anyone have any cleaning secrets for a duvet?

for this, maybe take it to the laundramat. give it a good tide washing with some oxyclean, and since your in fl, why dont you let it air dry. i understand with the humidity it might take longer, but the fresh air should help in getting rid of excess funk smell.

Only problem with air drying is our summer rains. We get it pretty much daily.

sometimes twice a day
We do have a front loader, so it does have a larger capacity. You should be fine, don't use softner though......not good for feathers. Makes them droopy.

drying in the dryer needs to be done to fluff up the feathers. I did not put our duvet cover on the duvet for a day just to help with the "airing" out of the feathers. It worked after about a day.
