Cleaning chemi pure elite

Hy everyone,
I have two bags in my sump for my 90 gal of chemi pure elite. About 2 months they have been in. I did the initial rinse, but should I be rinsing these off during water changes? Will it reduce effectiveness? Also I'm trying to lower phosphates, if these absorb phosphates, won't they still be in the water until the bags are disposed of?

Should probably change them out.....They loose their effectiveness.....

Thanks, but what about rinsing them during water changes... Will this rinse away some of the things it has absorbed and 'recharge' it in any way? The jar says they are good for 6 months

I guess it wouldn't hurt, but at 2 months it's not even worth having in the system.....

Really? Even when they say to change at 6 months? What do you base that on?

How are your other parameters of your tank.....Chemipure Elite will have very little draw down on your phosphate....It has very little ingredient to combat or absorb phosphate IMO.....Label might state anything, but wouldn't even remotely believe it's good for 6 months....I guess a good test would be to replace it with brand new and monitor your water parameters and when they start to climb it would be a good indication that the Chemipure is exhausted.......
