If your tank is glass a razor blade will work. I use a credit card most of the time. Does take some scrubbing sometimes.

Well, I am scared to use them myself, but I hear razor blades work well. Also, instead of a scrubber, they have algae scrapers. That I do use, and it seems to work for me. They have a plastic blade.

Razor blade. Just be careful not to scratch the glass. You will end up small cuts in the glass where algae can/will grow and you won't be able to clean. It is easy to clean with a razor blade, just need to be paying attention to what you are doing.
