cleaning crew

I want to increase the number of snails, crabs, shrimp etc. in my tank but do not know if the fish in there already will eat them. I have a blue angel, royal gramma, and two three stripped damsel fish. I recently put a peppermint shrimp in and someone picked all his legs off. Any suggestions?

Poor thing. I bet it was the damsel. I would think the fish would respond less aggressively to snails and crabs. My damsels harassed the cleaner shrimp for awhile... but gave up. The Pepperment shrimp come out after the damsels go to sleep in their holes. They adjusted. Sucks to see your critters get hurt though. My fish could care less about the hermits and snails.
