what is the best way.
i have read every way but there is alot of controversy about what is the best way..
should i bleach it or should i put it in the washing machine with no bleach and no soap? if i do that what if there is a little bit of soap left from the previous wash..
thanks in advance

I have used filter socks for about 1 year. I just wash them in hot water in the washer with no soap. I do not worry about any residual soap from previous washes. I do know many people who have used bleach without a problem as long as they wash a second time with water only. I am just a little too chichen to try it.

I just turn mine inside out, get all the pods out off it and wash it with hot water and no soap in the washing machine.

I don't use one. Took mine off when it became a copepod deathtrap. I removed all of my mechanical filtration.

I am new to filter socks, only having our tank for a month or so. I am using the pre-wash cycle with hot water and bleach and then doing a full cycle with just hot water so the socks get a double rinse. Let them dry completely before using again.

I love mine. I have so many pods the death of a couple a week dont bother me. Plus, they are still alive. It cuts down on bubbles in the tank from all my pumps and keeps the water nice and clear.

I clean my micron filtration pads (same material) with a cup of bleach in the washing machine on small to medium load size. Put them in by themselves and make sure the bleach is fragrance free. Do not use soap as it may not come out. Take them out and put the damp thing in a small bucket with water and chlorine/chloramine remover for fish tanks. Use a good amount....I use 2 caps full of Aquasafe which says 1 cap for something like 10 gallons of water. Don't want to take any chances, want to make sure the chlorine bleach is neutralized. Been doing this for years no problems. Lesley
