Cleaning Live Rock??

I did a pretty good cleaning on my tank tonight and was just wondering about my live rock. I only have 3 medium sized pieces (i'm new to this) and they are like, covered in dark greenish black hairy algea (i assume it's algea). Can I run them under water and scrub it off, or will this kill the whole "live" rock concept... it looks horrible and the under sides look nice and pretty...

do a water change and the water u take out of your tank say.......2-3-4 gallons what not rinse them off in there ...i use a toothbrush. hope this helps.

Awesome, thanks. Scrubing them won't hurt them in any way?

Just be sure its a new brush and never used for anything else.

If you do this, you will kill the "live rock". Why do you have green algae?
