Cleaning old tank for a new start

I have a tank that has been empty for a couple of years. It has collected some dust and there is still some garbage on the glass. What should I use to clean off the glass? I heard not to use windex.
Thanks,
Greg

It's a good time to check for leaks While the tank is full of light bleach water. You could also use a razor blade to carefully scrape the crud off. This is easier to do when it is WET...

It's called SeriClean from Jungle and I don't think it would cut the crud so to speak. Vinegar solution will remove any hard water deposits. Bleach will get about everything else. Just don't mix the two!

Be real careful with rasors. They'll scratch up the glass. If you do use one, don't use it often. It's not worth it. You can get a plastic scraper that works better if you just wet the algae first.
