Cleaning Pre-Filters

How often should these be cleaned? I have a cylinder shape one in my over flow box and 1 pad in my wet/dry right before the bioballs.

Personally I like to clean the one in my overflow box once a week, and the one by the bioballs I replace about 1-2 times a week. Also about once a month I throw away the one for the overflow and buy a new one.
Times could be different though depending on how often you feed etc.. when they look nasty.. clean them no harm in overcleaning them at all!
I notice that the one by the bioballs often gets clogged and starts flooding the plastic covering it... then I know that it needs to be cleaned for sure

i replace the one before the bioballs about once every week - week and a half. depends on how fast it gets filled with gunk
