Cleaning Prizm hang on skimmer

As long as we are on the topic... has anyone cleaned the prizm hang in skimmer? i cleaned mine out last night, and there is a VAST part of ti that is not reachable except by just water. i can't use really hot waterm, cuase the plastic warps.
on a side note, there was probably about 200 cocepods in it!!!!! Unfortunately, i relaized this AFTER i rinsed it out a few timse with fresh water....

I used to rise with hot water and wipe with a paper towel.(the removable cup)Then wipe out the throat of the skimmer. All this with the skimmer still running and the flow turned down or off.

I haven't cleaned mine yet, except for the collection cup. I have had it running for about 2 months straight. Doesn't seem to be doing anything wrong. Are you supposed to take the thing off and clean it?
