Cleaning rock ???

No, it is the same as soaking a used tank, equipment etc in a vinegar bath to clean, dissolve accumulated crud. Then the scrubbing as Flower suggested to get the rock clean. Then the rock will be dead rock and can be stored until a future time when it can be used and seeded to create life on it again.

After cleaning it is dead (base) rock and you can store it in a box for use in the future if you want to. Or you can add it to a tank as base rock and go ahead and start a new tank with it. Add some live rock to seed it and viola!
