cleaning sand?

Just was wondering what is the best way to clean sand? My tank went through its cycle and I have tons of die off all over my sand. I tried to siphon it but it justs creates a sand storm. Any suggestions or is that just the way it is? :thinking:

I use a 1 inch syphoon vaccum and have very litttle stirred up when I am done. When I do my weekly water change I pull out all the water from the vacumm and replace with new water.

Cleaning Crew will clean it up for ya.

Only clean up the very top layer of the sand, if any at all, lest you might well spark a new cycle. There is organic matter in your sand that needs to stay there to get processed by local bacteria through the cycle. I agree with the post that said let your cleanup crew take care of it. Invest in snails.
