Cleanup Crew Help!!

Ok, I have my new 75 gallon tank finally stocked with enough live rock and it has cycled to the point that I was comfortable adding a couple of tiny clowns. They are very cute and swimming around nicely. They spent a little while in my QT tank for observation and have been eating well. Then I put them in my DT and started looking at the food that they didn't eat... I didn't feel that I was giving them very much, but apparently I was being a little too generous. So now I am thinking about a CUC, and the recommendations are a little overwhelming. 30 snails!!?? All at once or a few at a time? And maybe a couple of crabs and/or shrimp...? Sugggestions?? and would you QT them first? I would imagine that you don't just hop over to the live pet store and buy a few and dump them in, but how to acclimate them and how many do you add at once?

First QT anything wet for 6 weeks, ick can enter your tank threw the water in the bag or as larva stuck to the outer shell or rock surface. Second clean up crew should be add little at a time as needed. As for your extra food laying around. Don't do that, only fed what they can consume B4 it hit the sand. It is better to under feed then over fed.

Also, the CUC on sites such as reefcleaners are extreme overkill. For a 75 I would think maybe 10 Nassarius snails, 4 turbos, 7-10 Ceriths, and if you like hermit crabs ( I find them amusing) 5-10 of those. The blue legged ones are great IMO. They generally don't kill anything. I just drip acclimate, I don't have a QT at the moment, so I can't help you there unfortunately. What are you planning on putting in the tank?

I have a couple of clowns. Later probably a dwarf angel, bleany, golby, and a small school of something small.
