closing a thread

PM a mod and request that it be closed, but if there is no positive reason for doing so, then there is no guarantee that your request will be granted. If you start a thread, and get your answer, there may still be others who are benefiting from the conversation being generated.

Was there something in particular that you had in mind loco?
Not really, just curious to what to weather you could or not.
It makes sence though that you would leave it open as some other viewers might benifit some from it. Thanks for the replies.

If it was that easy, I would just start a thread Titled: Hey Sepulation....and just say....
, then close the thread out.

HAHA!

If there is a legitimate reason for a thread to be closed then we will do it upon request. Otherwise it will remain open. If no one posts in it then it will go down the board and onto the next page. Eventually the thread will only be found by someone searching.

Have you tried the search function lately?
I have all but abandoned it. Most of the time I get an error 404 message from my browser. If it's a super easy search it sometimes works, but 90% of the time it does nothing at all.

Yep, go to advanced search and type what you are looking for. I had to do that yesterday. There are some technical problems right now.

so if you get any answer from any idiot the question is answered and you can close the thread?
Sometimes there is more then one answer to a question. your favorite answer may not be the right answer. Its better to be able to get different opinions then to be able to shut down a thread.
My next post will also be in bright red bold font, so everyone who reads it will go blind and hate me for life.

In regards to questions;
Example 1.)
2+2=4
the question is absolute
the answear is absolute
Example 2.)
2+2=x
the question is absolute
the answear is NOT absolute
Example 3.)
x+y=4
the question is NOT absolute
the answear is absolute
Example 4.)
x+y=z
the question is NOT absolute
the answear is NOT absolute
No need to insult people, I do not think that calling people "idiots" just cause they gave an wrong answear to a question is appropriate. I do hope you realize you called yourself an "idiot" aswell, as I do not believe you have answeard all the questions correctly through out your life. I do believe in some point in your life you have given a wrong answear, thus making you an "idiot". If you are wanting to call anyone an "idiot", it should be the ones that can't make sence of the answears given to them. By picking your favorite answear might meke you the "idiot", for not being able to make sence of it. I have done that aswell once or twice, but knew that there was a better answear to the question.
As far as the point to my question about closing a thread, I do think I see your point. The threads should be left opened as people will read and post additions to it. Their point was that even if people stop posting on a thread, it is beneficial to leave it open as others might come across it. They might even find something of interest in them.

I see no need to close it as long as it remains civil. Other people may have a question about closing threads to add.
