cloud of milk colored liquid

Last week when I was watching my tank, I saw a cloud of milk-colored, stringy liquid emerge from my live rock. My orange-tailed damselfish was in the area at the time. It reminded me of television programs that I've seen, of squid ejecting ink to deterr predators. Except that in my instance, it was white instead of dark colored.
From the angle it looked like something hidden in my live rock had ejected the liquid. What could this be? Is there a particular creature that might be hiding in my live rock, that would eject a cloud of white liquid when alarmed?
My tank is a 75 gallon with 125 lbs of live rock, approx 60 lbs live sand, and (known) inhabitants are: 2 green brittle starfish, 1 blue linkia starfish, 1 mystery crab that came with my live rock, 2 emerald crabs, 1 sally lightfoot, 1 cleaner shrimp, 30 blue legged hermits, 20 scarlet hermits, 25 turbo and astrea snails, a purple tang, an orange tailed damsel, 2 engineer gobies (a pair I think), 1 bicolor angel, 1 ocellaris clown, and 1 yellow coris wrasse.
