Cloudy Water/Brown Algae

Hello, I have had my 90 gallon tank set up for about a month now. It is an established tank because the water and live rock and live sand and filters came from someone else's tank that had been running for 2 years. The only thing new is the lights. I have a coral life 30 inch light with 65 watts on one side and a 24 inch atinnic light on the other side. They are both directly on the glass and stay on around 10-12 hours a day. What could be causing this problem?

Welcome to the boards!! The brown dusting is diatoms. Every tank gets that. My concern is the clouding. Was it clear then clouded, or has it been cloudy since you set it up?

the cloudyness is from a bacterial bloom - your aquarium doesn't have enough biological filtration to handle the waste that was produced from the move.
All you have to do is temporarily increase your biological filtration with a sponge in the sump or in your hang on back filter. If this doesn't work, something like a Emperor 400 dual biowheel filter would do nicely.
Doing regular water changes should also help your dilema.

Its about time to do a large water change(ro/di).. It would also help to reduce lighting schedule just a bit.. The rest is text book..
