cloudy water initial start of 120 gal

just started my 120 gal tank.after adding the sand and salt its been cloudy for over 24 hours. been running a eheim wet/dry canister model 2229, it seems to run fine then water shoots out of the air intake tube and it wont pump right. if i shake the canister or close and open the out line then it seems to clear up the air pocket. anyone useing this filter out there that can help? and also how long should this water stay cloudy? it has cleared up alot but there is still some cloudiness and a film on top of water.

i dont run that filter but can tell you that when i first added my sandbed my tank was cloudy for 3-4 days before it settled enough to put my fish back in. they lived in a 5 gal. bucket for those days i ran awhisper 4 filter for the time to help clear the water a bit and just kept rinsing out the filterpads. just give it a few days everything should settle.

My tank was cloudy for 24 hours. I then decided to jam my power filter full of filter media and the tank was crystal clear a few hours after that.
