Cloudy Water.....

My tank has been up for about four months and my water is very cloudy, all of my levels are good trate 0, trite 0, ammo 0, ph 8.2. I had a problem with my spray bar "drilling" water into my rock and putting a hole in it.
I have done several water changes and it clears up for about 1 week and then it comes back. I was wondering if using a clarifier would cause any ill effects later on down the line.
I don’t know how to make this stop; I have moved the spray bar and rearranged the rock. The fish are fine it just bugs me
Thanks for the help!

I do have live sand, the tank is not in direct sunlight, the cloudyness looks like smoke (white), and yes Trey I do have a prefilter pad over the trickle section and I will change that as soon as I get off of here. Thanks alot

I am planning on adding a protein skimmer in the near future.

Keeping that prefilter clean, and adding a GOOD SKIMMER will clear your tank.Get two or three prefilters, that way you will always have a clean one on hand....

What do you do to clean your prefilter sponge? I have been running hot water over it to get it clean.

Dragon, Any tips on how one might make the toothbrush taste better, once they've finished using it to clean their tank?

Yeah, what you could do is place it by some carbon so that the impurities would dissolve. Then you would have to soak it in tap water with a protein skimmer. Lastly, you'd have to also soak it in some copper to remove the parasites. After that you should be all set to use a USED toothbrush just like new.
