cloudy water

My tank is over 3 y/o - FOWLR. 55 gal with about 70 lbs of LR. Did a 7.5 gal water change yesterday. Added a heater as my old one broke and put in a new pump to circulate water a little better. Changed the carbon in the cannister filter and gave it a good cleaning. Didn't do anything all that different than any other time.
Woke up this morning to a cloudy tank. Hesitate to do another water change until I can figure out what caused this. Any ideas?
Nothing died that I can tell unless it was a crab or some other part of my cleaner crew. I did notice that some of my snails were spouting this cloudy stuff out of their sides.
For now I'm thinking to leave the lights off and leave the tank alone as we're going skiing later today and won't be back until tomorrow night. Either way, it going to take 24 hours for the water.
Please help if you can.

The new pump may have stirred up some detritus making the water cloudy.
Did you plug in the new pump before lights out?
How cloudy is it?
