i have a 50 gallon, a humu and a yellow tang. my water is usually cloudy or sometimes yellow. i do regular water changes, no nitrates or ammonia, good p.H. i have 2 hang on filters. i dont have a skimmer. if i get a skimmer, will that clear up my water? I am also thinking about getting sand. right now i have medium sized (from petsmart) type gravel. i feed my fish aboput 3 times a day, i give them algae chips, flakes, krill, plankton, freeze dried shrimp, fresh shrimp,.. am i over feeding? i feed the picasso pretty often because he is always at the top oif the tank begging for food, do they all do this or is it just that mine is hungry, i also have a powerhead in my tank on one side for water movement. what else should i do? i cant have a clean up crew because of my trigger....

Frankly I would think the water is cloudy due to too much feeding which tends to throw the nitrates out of wack. Frankly I envy anyone who can do 3 times a day but frankly your fish will always act hungry (Triggers and Puffs pull this all the feed- me I am starving they seem to shout- what con artisits they are). I would cut back to no more then twice do a couple water changes first then see if the condition starts to clear up. As far as a skimmer with that feeding amount I would get one anyway it does do wonders for a tank (it does not have to be a big bucks one either- I have the Red Sea Prism and I like it big time).
