clove coral

I bought a frag of clove coral a month ago . It was doing fine , but yesterday the tips of the coral are white and it's not opening as it did before. One thing I've seen in the past two weeks my hermit crabs destroy my candy coral .Which was doing great for the past year.
Do you guys think it may be the crabs or they have a fungus?

ive only been in the hobby for 6mos or so but i was battleing a major algae problem and overloaded my CUC...recently the algae has subsided and my hermits and emeralds have been giving my corals a lot of grief. the other day i picked up a couple frags and had them on eggcrate at the bottom of my tank and i watched an emerald walk up, grab one of my new zoa frags, rip it in half, and walk away...he is going back to the LFS. my assumption is that they just have a lack of food and will start messing with whatever might be somewhat tasty
another thing i have noticed is that corals are visual cues to water parameters. when they dont looks good...something is wrong and your levels are off. check yours at home and bring em to your LFS to double check everything
