Clove Polop

Not sure if right place for my question. I purchased a nice sized clove polop (or is it polup). Anyway it was open nicely in shop. Still waiting for it to open up in my tank. I heard could take weeks for them to open. Told it likes lots of light, so at top of tank, in the water flow. It was in the flow in the store. So will it take along time for it to open?? Should it be up close to the lights and in the water flow. I checked out about them, they are supposedly easy to keep alive, I hope so. How do I know if it is fading away into fishy heaven, the color seems to be the same as when I put in my tank. Only been maybe a week or less. Should I feed it the iodine or trace elements (fuel liquid food) or leave it alone?? Thanks Lynda

The correct spelling is P-O-L-Y-P.

Just leave it be for now, and don't dose anything you don't test for. If you feed your tank, you're already putting a bit of iodine into it, BTW.

Ok realized it was spelled polyp, right after I posted it. Well guess might take more days for it to open. As long as it is not passing into polyp heaven, or death. I do not feed my tank, I was told to put in fuel liquid food, whatever that is. So what can I safely feed my tank with???

Don't add liquid foods such as Microvert...they're hard on the water quality. If you want to feed the coral, you want to boost your pod production, so adding a quality live phytoplankton product (I love Phyto 2 products) will help a lot in that regard. Many corals will also exhibit feeding responses when you add the phyto, but the goal is to get your pod count up. if you keep clams or other filter feeders, they will benefit from the phyto as well.

I've always run my reefs at 77*F, and they do fine.

I will try and find live phytoplankton. Thought maybe the clove polyp needs food or something. Still not opening. Been a week. Can it take more than a week to open. Thks for the help

Hi saxman, I found so many live phytoplankton, Didn't find phyto 2, where did you purchase your phyto 2. Also read about DT is that better, they say it smells badly. So help please, where do I find either one of these. I went online to the online stores, and found so many products, non saying phyto 2. Thanks for any help,

Clove Polyp still not opening. It started to open, but closed right up. Is something wrong with my water qualilty?? Does it need the food put in the tank. My bubble anemone is opening and closing nicely. . Posted question under lighting. Please read that and advise. thanks
