Hello was wondering what do do about the white spots on the fins of my fish. I just moved the tank 2 days ago so i'm sure it's due to stress. Can anyione tell me what to do?
if it is definately ich, then you should follow Beth's procedure for hyposalinity, in a QT, not the main tank. absolutely don't use copper in the main tank
All the water tests came out good except the 15ppm on the nitrates the temp is 80 even and salinity is about 1.021...i still haven't gotten it back up since the move but working on it.
get your sal up to 1.25. your water parameters may be fine but thats not how you got the ick. somehow it was introduced into your system and will not go away until you remove all invertabrates for 4-6weeks. running a uv steril. can help in situations like this
since the ick is only noticed on the fins you still have some time. it will take a few days to get your water ready and suitable for your inhabbitants. talk to your lfs, their are different opinion's on how to do it, or look through one of beth's sticky threads, i believe she has one on hypo. good luck
here's the deal, some may not agree with me but when my perc got the first signs of ick i freaked and went to the lfs to get a qt. He told me not to worry about it and buy a uv sterilizer $110 and 3 days later the ick was really gone. I feel it works great, the swimming ick enters the sterilizer and is killed by the bright light. thats just my opinion.
