clown bit by puffer

i have had the clown with two leopard puffers for 6 months with no problem. then introduced a volitan lion fish. still no problems. was out of town for 3 days and left my roomate to watch after fish. he didn't feed them and didn't even turn on the light. during feeding today the puffer nibbled off the clowns tail and then a chunk out of his belly. he seems to be ok and swiimming around. i seperated them and am wanting to know if there is anyway to help him recover.

A few thing we need to know how gig is your tank. Also what is the size of you clown to the puffer. Puffers can be real mean to smaller fish.
