Clown Boy's Torch Coral Journal and Photograph Thread

Hello, All!
I just got a new Torch Coral for my 135 gallon reef tank. I have lights that are not exactly industry standard on my tank, so I will be logging the life of this coral here. Also, I may occasionally ask questions regarding it.
First question: My Maroons keep pushing it down like they don't like it... will they eventually stop once they get used to it?
I'll go grab a picture...

sounds like they are trying to host in it which isnt good for the torch coral
I will see if I can a pic of the old torch that I had.

Just how different are Torches and Frogspawns? My Maroons hosted the Frogspawn for a long time... I just wish you all could see my tank...
I went ahead and put up a sort of barrier with my net, so the clowns can't access the coral while it gets used to it's new environment.

torches normally only have on mouth per head more like an anemone on a stick LOL frogs can have several mouths per area. so if a clown bothers onw part the other parts will still be able to feed the coral. torches arent this way so when they are bothered until they get all there food from one area.

torches are more like anemones each polyps area has one mouth in the center frgospawns usually have mutiple mouths per polyp area so even if one area is unable to feed the other area can feed with a torch that doesnt happen.
its a nice looking coral but is it opened up all the way?

Hmm... now that you mention it, it does seem like the center is... well... a little shriveled...
no NO NOOOO!!! Can it be that the anemone story will repeat itself????

Oh, boy... I see it coming...

keep a close eye on it and see if it stays shriveled it should really look like an aneomone on a stick literally LOL
the tenticals should be long and wavy and fully extended. so keep a close eye on it.
so you know what lighting your LFS has on there tanks.?

Clowns will eventually kill Hammers, Torches, and Frogspawn, its only a matter of time. You need to get the proper lighting and get a RBTA or another anemone that will host.

then let a friend care for the fish or coral, the coral will die, its just a matter of time.

dont take it the wrong way but research and ask questions before you buy and we can tell you if your lighting and all is up to par for these guys. since we dont take your money we wont tell you it will when it wont work out.
