Clown Fish

I bought a pair of Clwon fish couple weeks ago but both have dided
I don't understand what happened as they seemed healthy but I suppose they were not. They never accepted any type of food. I tried various types with no luck. I remember that both fish stayed very close to the bottom of the tank and didn't move around that much. One lasted a week and the second one died a week later.
When the first Clown died I bought another Clown as the original idea was to have 2. Well the second Clown died within a week and the third one that I bought was very active and enjoyed exploring the tank but then when the second Clown died the third one slowed down. The third one is now behaving like the other 2 and so far has not eccepted food. It looks healthy but I know that it could have some internal problem that's not visible.
I have other fish and invertebrates in the tank and they all are doing extremely well. There are 1 Bicolor Blenny, 1 Yellow Watchman Goby, 2 Skunk Cleaner shrimp, 2 Peppermint shrimp, 1 Emerald Crab and 1 Pistol Shrimp and a few snails and little crabs. They all are doing well, it is just the Clown fish that have died so far. Why just the Clowns...is there a problem with my tank I would think that the other fish and invertebrates would die too.
I tested the the water and everything seems fine
Temperature 78
Phosphaptes 0.0
Ammonia 0.0
Nitrates 0.0
Calcium 400
Salinity 1.022
PH 8.2
Any idea what's happening to my Clowns :help:

Sorry for your loss.

Exactly what type of clowns? If none of the three you purchased ate and if you purchased them all from the same place I would refrain from buying clowns there again. Perhaps they were wild caught and had cyanide poisoning or had an infection or a parasite of some sort. Consider buying a pair of aqua-cultured clowns and don't buy them until you see them eat at the store; that is always a good idea. Any fish store that refuses to feed a fish in front of you before you buy it is not worth shopping at.

Thanks for the responese....The Clowns were/are False Percula Clown
I didn't buy all the Clowns at the same LFS. The first 2 were purchased from the same store and then I decided to go to a different LFS to buy the third one. I talked the LFS and they told me that I can be 100% sure that the fish were/are tank bred. The third littlw clown is still alive but sao far it has not eaten anything. It has been in the tank for a week now......If this one dies I will wait a while before buying another pair.
I just dont understand why they died......is there was a problem with my tank then i would think that the other fish, corals and invertebrates would be affected too but they are not.
Cheers

That is sad. I hope the little guy pulls through, but it doesn't sound good.
He won't even eat flake food?
:notsure:
Try putting some flake food in a cup with some tank water and use a turkey baster to swish it around a bit to get it good and soggy and then use the turkey baster to gently shoot it right at the clown. Do all of this after you have fed the rest of the fish so they won't bug him or steal it from him.

you may have some luck by contacting the LFS and seeing what they were feeding it, if they got it to eat :notsure:

Hi talked the people from the LFS and they said that he was being fed Formula one pellets but he has not accepted any type of food. I have tried various types of frozen food, flake and pellets with no success. The little Clown is still alive but I know that he will probably die within the next few days. It has been in my tank for 7 days ......It is just said to see the little guy dying slowly and not being able to do anything.
cheers

the same thing happened to me where both my clowns died
i went to get my water tested at a different LFS than i bought the fish from and it turned out that my hydrometer was way off and my salt level was way low
it was an instant ocean hydrometer

hmmmm I don't think that's what killed the Clowns as there are other fish, corals and invertebrates in the tank and they all are doing super well.

I struggled to get two aquacultured oscellaris clowns to eat. They finally ate Omega one spirulina flakes after a week of frustration.
Then I went to 'Prime Reef' frozen cubes and Nutrafin Max pellets.
Best wishes!
